Trans Am closes day with final practice, second chance to qualify

Fix, Lewis, Camus and Kleeman lead respective classes in session
MILLVILLE, NJ. [June 11, 2016] – Fix and Lewis closed out the day’s Trans Am action at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Round 4 of the 2016 Trans Am Championship, part of the Hank Sauce Weekend of Thunder, presented by MPT Industries. In addition, Camus and Kleeman led the TA3 and TA4 classes; while Charles Wicht and Ron Landis elected to participate in second chance qualifying.
The TA class was led in practice by Paul Fix, driver of the No. 50 StopFlex.com/TheCarCoach.com/Chevron Techron Chevrolet Corvette, who turned a 1:17.980 lap around the 2.25 Millville, NJ track. Fix was followed by defending TA champion Amy Ruman, in the No. 23 McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette, who logged a 1:18.705 lap of her own; while Vincent Allegretta, in the No. 41 TA Sights & Sounds/ Dr. Dave Chevrolet Corvette, was third quickest in the TA class with a time of 1:21.607.
Shane Lewis, in the No. 72 Pura Vida Tequila/ 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro, set the fast lap for the TA2 practice session, turning a 1:21.115 lap, beating out veteran Tony Ave, in the No. 04 Roehrig Engineering Chevrolet Camaro, who put in a 1:22.347 lap of his own.
Louis-Philippe Montour, in the No. 77 SpeedLogix/Montour LTD Dodge Challenger, was third quickest with a 1:22.544 lap, while defending TA2 champ Gar Robinson, in the No. 74 Pura Vida Tequila/ 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro, and Adam Andretti, in the No. 44 ECC/ Anchor Bolt & Screw Dodge Challenger, completed the TA2 top five for the session with times of 1:22.641 and 1:23.032.
Michael Camus, in the No. 08 Bizbloom.com BMW M3, led TA3 with a time of 1:29.284, while Brian Kleeman, in the No. 07 DWW Motorsports Ford Mustang, led the TA4 class with a time 1:27.418. Tim Kezman, in the No. 4 Fall-Line/Calypso Porsche 997 turned a 1:28.704 representing the TA5 class.
Two cars elected to re-qualify, discarding their times from the previous session: the TA class No. 75 RolexDealers/Crystal Clear Pools Chevrolet Corvette of Charles Wicht, and the TA3 class No. 95 Landis Corvettes and More Chevrolet Corvette of newcomer Ron Landis.
Wicht would improve his position from 14 on the TA grid to 13 with a 1:22.911 lap, while Landis would remain 13th on the TA3, TA4 and TA5 multiclass grid despite improving his time from 1:52.554 to 1:39.659.
The Trans Am Series will return to the track tomorrow, Sunday, June 12, for two 101.25-mile races: a TA2, powered by AEM, standalone race and a TA/TA3/TA4/TA5 multiclass race, with times listed below.
