Trans Am Series expands technical department for 2016

Dave Kettler and Peter Kane join staff to address growing production racing contingent

MIAMI, Fla. [January 26, 2016] – As Trans Am Series competitors continue to make preparations for the Round 1 of the 2016 Trans Am Championship at Sebring International Raceway on March 6th, The Trans Am Race Company has finalized a restructuring of the technical staff to better serve the Series’ expanded class structure.

“With the change to TA3 and the addition of TA4 and TA5, we saw an opportunity to adjust the Trans Am technical staff to better serve our competitor base,” said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company. “We owe our outstanding growth to our competitors; and as a Series we want to provide the best possible customer service in all areas, including within our technical department. With these additions to our staff we aim to not only increase our commitment to balance of performance across all classes, but also reduce our competitors’ time in tech.”

Kirk Ready, a longtime member of the Trans Am staff, will serve as Technical Services Director, remotely coordinating the rulebook and technical bulletins while also overseeing engine and wind tunnel testing.

Rich Bahr will continue as Trans Am Technical Director overseeing the Technical Department at all Trans Am events and leading technical inspection for the TA and TA2 classes, as well as leading Trans Am’s ongoing efforts in implementing AEM Infinity ECU’s in TA2 as the class begins its conversion to fuel injection.

After assisting in several events in 2015, Dave Kettler will be formally joining the Trans Am staff as the TA3/TA4/TA5 Technical Manager, overseeing technical inspection, rules stability and balance of performance for the production based classes.

Joining Kettler in those efforts will be Peter Keane, serving as a TA3/TA4/TA5 Technical Consultant. Keane will be primarily tasked with growing the TA5 class and overseeing it from a technical standpoint throughout, this, its maiden year.

“As we continue to increase the presence of production racing in the Trans Am paddock it is important to also increase the presence of our technical staff,” said Clagett. “In Dave Kettler and Peter Keane we have two very capable additions to our staff ready to address our competitors’ needs and assist in the continued growth of the TA3, TA4 and TA5 classes.”
