Tomy Drissi Back on Track at Mid-Ohio for the Pirelli Trans Am First Energy 100

Trans Am Champion, Tomy Drissi will be back in action driving the No. 8 Burtin Racing GoShare Camaro at the legendary Mid Ohio Sports Car Course for the First Energy Trans Am 100,  Saturday, August 11.

This will be Trans Am’s 31st appearance at Mid-Ohio, its seventh consecutive since the Series’ return in 2012.  The 2.258-mile, 13-turn circuit is a familiar to drivers and teams alike. The site of the legendary “pony wars,” Mid Ohio stands as one of the historic homes of Trans Am racing.

Having just sealed the deal on the Trans Am West 2018 Driver’s Championship, Drissi is excited to return to east coast racing action and Mid Ohio in particular.

“I love this track,” noted Tomy. “More than that, I love Trans Am at this track. It’s a perfect combination of speed and handling. The elevation changes are fun and the open straights are perfect for these cars.”

“It’s nice coming here with Burtin Racing and the GoShare folks,” added Tomy. “The Burtin crew is so dedicated to the quality of car they bring to the track. And once here, they’re equally committed to getting it right. We’ve been really fast all year, so I expect to be in the mix this weekend.”

There’ll be plenty of competition this weekend when 13 Trans Am entries hit the track.

“Looks like everyone came out for this one, “ said Tomy. “Boris Said is back, along with Chris Dyson… and Loshak is coming off a win last week. Of course, Ernie Francis Jr. is going to be fast and I know Amy Ruman is going to be chasing that elusive home track victory. The fans are in for a real treat. It’s 70’s pony wars all over again!”

Tomy’s hoping his 2013  track record of 1:21.241 will give him an edge on the competition. At the first pre race promoters test session, Tomy was P1.

Both the FirstEnergy 100 and FirstEnergy Muscle Car Challenge will be live streamed on Motor Trend On Demand, while the weekend will be showcased in a one-hour highlights show on CBS Sports Network on tape-delay.  Each race will span 45 laps, 101.96 miles around the Mid-Ohio circuit.

Trans Am is joined on the weekend by NASCAR Xfinity holding the Rock N Roll Tequila 170 and the Formula 3 Championship Powered by Honda.
