Tom Sheehan Shines with Resilient P13 Finish at Mid-Ohio Trans Am

Lexington, OHIO – June 24, 2025 - New Hampshire's Tom Sheehan delivered a highly creditable performance in the CUBE 3 Architecture Trans Am TA2 race presented by Pirelli at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He secured a commendable 13th-place finish despite challenging circumstances.
Piloting the No. 97 Vixen Motorcycle / LTK Insulation Technologies / Cope Ford Mustang, Sheehan showcased his skill, determination, and tenacity on one of the most demanding tracks in the series after starting from a less-than-ideal qualifications position. A frustrating qualifying session where he posted a best lap of 1:27.196 meant he had his work cut out for him, especially as the Mid-Ohio circuit is notorious for its tight layout and limited overtaking opportunities. Sheehan’s experience and strategic know-how shone through as he methodically climbed several places during the race, finishing with a best lap of 1:28.246 and a P5 finishing position in the Pro/Am Challenge.
The race itself was punctuated by frequent interruptions. Numerous drivers misjudged the racing line, resulting in spins and gravel-trap excursions that led to a stop-start rhythm. Sheehan, however, maintained his composure, avoiding the chaos and demonstrating the steady hand that has earned him his “Ironman” moniker, his ability to stay focused a testament to his professionalism and understanding of the sport.
"We struggled to find pace on the low grip surface and had a sniff at the third spot on the final green run in the race," stated Tom Sheehan. "I just didn’t have anything for the No. 9 and the 99. The hot weather suits me, but I failed to find late race pace. I saved a quick spin out of Turn 9 and that was the end of my charge. Track was dirty and slick between the grass, gravel and sun. It was the same for everyone. Time to hit the reset button and focus on Road America."
Tom Sheehan’s performance at Mid-Ohio adds another chapter to his storied career in Trans Am racing. Known for his durability and consistency, the “Ironman” continues to inspire fans and fellow competitors alike with his relentless drive and passion for the sport.
It's a quick turnaround for Tom and the Mike Cope team with the next round of the 2025 championship this coming weekend at Road America in Wisconsin where an even bigger field of 30 cars line-up in the TA2 class. Located in Wisconsin's scenic Kettle Moraine, Elkhart Lake's Road America, Inc. is one of the world's fastest permanent road racing tracks. The 640-acre, park-like grounds offer amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions and high-speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year.
As the Trans Am TA2 series continues, Sheehan and his team are already looking ahead to the next challenge, eager to build on this performance. Qualifying for Tom and the TA2 drivers is on Saturday, June 28 in two groups from 3:30 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. With the race set at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.
