The fan's man: Chuck Cassaro takes home GGT title
He posts.  He drives.  And now, he wins championships.  Chuck Cassaro has established himself as a fan favorite, mostly because of his active Facebook interaction with fans through pictures, posts and videos everywhere he goes on race weekend.  Just like other drivers, the man behind the #76 Cassaro Enterprises/ Midwest Council/ Some Heavy Metal Band Panoz GTS knows how to race—but also makes a point to keep the fans up-to-date with what is going on in the paddock.

When the series worked to pay tribute to the troops at Road America, Cassaro was the first one in line.  He positioned his car and then immediately reached for his iPad and began chronicling the event as it unfolded.  For himself, and the fans.

Not only did Cassaro claim his first championship, he was also named GGT Rookie of the Year.  His first season behind the wheel for GGT was a series of podium climbs, and it ended with Cassaro hoisting two trophies above the competition.

Cassaro ends the year with six podiums to his name and a championship under his belt, despite a rough outing at Road Atlanta.

“It was difficult out on the track and we had some transmission issues, so this weekend was frustrating.  I went into the year wanting to run as much as I can, and we managed to do that.  The main thing is I just love running with this series.  It’s a phenomenal group of people and competitors.  It’s a great place to be.”

Cassaro in planning on returning to Trans Am in 2013, hopefully to defend his title, although the champion admits a TA2 car could also be in his future.

Either way, Cassaro always will be the fan’s champion.
