The Quest Resumes

Braselton, Ga. – Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR) will resume their quest for their third TA2 title when The Trans Am presented by Pirelli takes to the track at Road Atlanta. SMR arrived early to Braselton after supporting their arrive-and-drive customers this past weekend on the Charlotte Roval.

Team owner Joe Stevens said, “We have a fantastic core of arrive-and-drive customers and they were all in action last weekend at the SVRA and inaugural Trans Am Pro-Am event at Charlotte. We had a great weekend including the debut of our Berryman Products Mustang with Alex Wright in the Pro-Am.”

The event also provided the opportunity for driver Mike Skeen to put some testing miles on SMR’s Liqui Moly, Turn 14 Distribution, Howe Racing Enterprises Camaro.

Skeen said, “Coming off a successful test at the Charlotte Roval with SVRA, I am confident our Stevens-Miller Racing, Liqui Moly, Turn 14 Distribution Camaro will be strong in Atlanta. We have been working hard to make sure everything is maximized with our Howe Racing chassis.”

Road Atlanta is a track SMR knows well and has had much success. 2020 saw the team wrap up the TA2 championship with dominating wins in both races at the year-ending event.

“I am looking forward to returning to the venue where we clinched the 2020 championship with two victories,” Skeen said. “It looks like we’ll have wet weather this weekend, which should bring some exciting racing!”

Stevens added, “Road Atlanta has always been a good track for us. It’s fast, technical, and demands the best out of both car and driver. We started the season with a podium at Sebring with a car that had not turned a lap prior to our arrival. Now that we have more time on the car, I think we’re in a great position going into this weekend. Weather will play a part as we’re expecting mixed conditions including rain and thunderstorms, but I’m confident in Mike’s abilities and, in fact, plays to his strengths.

“Road Atlanta will be open to the public this weekend and we hope to have a good crowd. Although not the best weather to be out and about, the racing will be really good and well worth breaking out the raingear and umbrellas! If you can’t be there, be sure to get the Trans Am app as the races will be live streamed and the in-cars should be quite spectacular!

“We need to have a good finish as we resume our quest for our third championship in a row. With almost 30 cars entered, it’s going to be demanding and a real challenge with the expected weather. Our Howe Racing Enterprises Camaro is a really good piece and with the support of Liqui Moly, Turn 14 Distribution and ‘Skeen the Machine’ behind the wheel, we have all the tools we need to stand on the podium’s top step. Now we have to adapt to the conditions, execute, and make it happen.

“Finally, I want to thank our newest partner Michael Taylor his company Out There Brands for coming on board. We’re looking forward to showing off our new Out There Brands hospitality tents, flooring, and drum covers. Out There Brands specialize in hospitality, paddock, and pit set ups and are the perfect partner as we welcome Liqui Moly, Turn 14 Distribution and Berryman Products reps and customers back to the track.”
