Rain-Soaked Trans Am Race at Lime Rock Park, Ruman Finishes 8th

Munroe Falls, Ohio – It was a rain-soaked race for the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli last weekend at the Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, CT.

The No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette was decent in the testing and practice sessions, with Ruman posting times mid-pack on Friday. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided not to cooperate, and the rain came just at the teams were going out for qualifying late Friday night. Ruman qualified 8th on the grid for the Saturday race.

The rain did not stop for race, and Lime Rock was drenched. Ruman battled with a few throughout the race in the challenging conditions and brought home an 8th place finish.

"I was disappointed that is rained this weekend, obviously it’s not the finish we were aiming for. I’m getting better at rain racing, but I don’t have the experience some of the others do. Just have to keep getting better at it,” said a frustrated Ruman.  "I love racing here at Lime Rock and the fans are just so amazing. I can’t believe how many people came out to support us in this inclement weather, a true testament to how many people love Trans Am racing!”

There was some shuffling in the Championship points after Round 4 at Lime Rock Park. Chris Dyson takes the lead in the TA class championship with 112 points, followed by Tomy Drissi in second – 110, Ernie Francis Jr. in third – 98, Ken Thwaits in fourth – 65, David Pintaric sits in fifth – 74, Simon Gregg in sixth – 72, and Amy Ruman is seventh – with 70. The Series travels to Ruman’s home track Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, OH, June 25-27th for Round 5 on the schedule.
