Rafa Matos Aims for Title as Nitro Motorsports Brings Seven to Trans Am Finale
October 29, 2024
October 29, 2024 – It’s the final Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli race of 2024 as Nitro Motorsports heads to the famed Circuit of the Americas. On the verge of the second TA2 championship in as many seasons, the North Carolina-based program is bringing seven drivers to Texas as they aim to top the podium in both the National and Pro/Am classes.
“We have won or been on the podium at every event in the 2024 Trans Am season, and the goal is to complete the task this weekend,” explained Nitro Motorsports’ Nick Tucker. “We have seven drivers joining us this weekend, including the 2023 TA2 Champion, and soon-to-be 2024 TA2 title winner, along with several victors and podium winners this season.”
Leading Nitro Motorsports into Austin, Texas will be current TA2 point leader Rafa Matos as he looks to complete another championship winning season for the team. Joining him will be 2023 champ Brent Crews, as well as the most recent TA2 winner in Thomas Annunziata. The always fast Ben Maier will look to add to his 2024 results resume in Texas as Jared Odrick looks to be back on the podium in the Pro/Am ranks. Odrick, who switched to Nitro Motorsports mid-season, had instant success and will look to finish the season strong as he is joined by Mauri Zaccarelli in Pro/Am. Beside all of them, Sam Corry will race under the Nitro Motorsports banner as the 2024 season comes to a close.
Tucker added, “We are fully focused on completing the season on a high and carry our momentum into the off season. We have had a strong year but want to close it with a win.”
With the 2024 season ending this weekend, Nitro Motorsports can’t help to look forward to their 2025 campaign as well.
Tucker continued, “We have had several driver announcements already for next season, and still have more to come. We want to make sure that we can continue our winning ways and be the easy choice for drivers competing in TA2.”
Nitro Motorsports will hit the track on Friday for a pair of test sessions followed by official practice and qualifying on Friday. The final Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli race will take place on Sunday at 10:35am CDT. To watch live, tune in to www.GoTransAm.com.
