Paul Fix Heads To VIR Seeking Results And Points
September 23, 2015
Williamsville, NY (September 23, 2015)- Coming off a ninth place result at the Road America event, the most recent stop on the schedule for 2015, Paul Fix and the #4 Stopflex.com/CarCoach/RoyalPurple/Well-Worth Chevrolet Corvette will look to make amends at Virginia International Raceway this weekend. Fix remains positioned in the second spot in the season championship points standings. Anticipating a repeat performance of his 2014 win at VIR, Fix intends to make each of the final four races meaningful in his pursuit of a 2015 Trans Am Series Championship.
“The end result at Road America was certainly disappointing,” said Fix. “We had a fast race car in each of the on track sessions leading up to the race. The Tony Ave Racing crew is prepared and ready to put that behind us and focus on the task of winning the last four races of the season.”
The VIR race will once again showcase all three classes of competition on the racing surface at the same time. While that provides for a large field of cars, it also can provide for incidents. Such was the case at Road America w ith numerous caution flags and laps behind the safety car. One such occasion created a racing situation whereby Fix was impacted by another driver resulting in a flat rear tire and a loss of on track position.
“For VIR the key will be to get out front early and let the race unfold behind me,” noted Fix. “We need as many points as we can muster at each event and becoming entangled in someone else incident doesn’t bode well for getting positive results.”
In 2014 at VIR Fix held a commanding lead in the final stages of the race and went on to victory by several seconds. The fast sweeping road course is a favorite of Fix’s. With a variety of corner styles and elevation changes, Fix relishes the opportunity to manage the circuit with a deft hand.
Said Fix, “I have been racing at VIR for many years. I enjoy the natural terrain flow of the layout and appreciate what it takes to circulate the track at a fast pace. I expect good things come Sunday afternoon.”
“It’s all about the championship. We’ll take each race as it comes and let the points fall into place,” said Fix. “With four races left, don’t count us out.”
The Trans Am Series will begin the weekend’s activities with a practice session on Friday, September 25th at 12:00PM followed by qualifying at 5:15PM. Saturday will have practice #2 at 11:20AM and the weekend will conclude with Sunday’s 31 laps of racing with the green flag to wave at 12:55PM.
