Next Stop, Road America for Ruman and Trans Am – Mid-Ohio Race Ended Way too Early

TEAM RELEASE - Munroe Falls, Ohio – After the tough round for Ruman and the team at Mid-Ohio just over a week ago, the busy month of August continues to Road America, WI, this weekend for the Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli.

The hometown race at Mid-Ohio on August 11th did not go according to plan. The team struggled to find proper handling and speed throughout the weekend, which resulted in an 11th place qualifying slot for the start of the race. Ruman was determined to move up quickly after a decent start for the race. After advancing to sixth position during the opening laps, she suffered a mechanical failure that ended her race very early on lap 10. “What can I say, another huge disappointment in front of our hometown crowd again. For some reason we just haven’t yet had the best luck here at Mid-Ohio lately; it’s a real shame. Thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting us – it really does mean the world to us!” stated Ruman.

The Series is once again running in conjunction with the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the legendary road racing circuit. The No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette is ready to go and Ruman is eager to face the fast and challenging 14-turn, 4.048 mile track – a track that the two time Champion has yet to win at in her Trans Am career. The past few years have had rainy weather for the Trans Am race, but this could be the year for good weather and sunny skies.

57 competitors are entered for the event, with 19 running in Ruman’s TA class. The weekend will start off with a promoter test day and official practice 1 on Thursday August 23rd. Practice 2 and qualifying will take place on Friday. The TA2 race will be quite early, at 8:00am Saturday, followed by the TA/3/4 race at 9:40am CST, both at 101.2-miles, 25-laps – all times listed are Central Time.  Visit or for ticket, full schedule, and all other weekend information.

Also, a 60-minute highlight show of the weekend will broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network, Sunday September 16th at 2:00pm.

Heading into the weekend, Ernie Francis, Jr. leads the TA Championship with 190 points, followed by Lawrence Loshak in second – 145, David Pintaric sits third – 140, Chris Dyson in forth – 138, and Amy Ruman moved up to fifth with – 118 points.
