Mike Skeen prevailed in a battle of survival on the streets of Nashville, winning the Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers presents the Franklin Road Classic with Race for RP, scoring his ninth TA2® victory in Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli competition.
Skeen prevailed in a two-lap shootout in the No. 1 Liqui-Moly/Turn 14 Distribution Chevrolet Camaro, holding off Thomas Merrill's No. 81 HP Tuners/Mike Cope Racing Ford Mustang by 1.185-seconds.
Connor Mosack finished third in the No. 28 NicTailor/FS M1-SLR Chevrolet Camaro. Mosack led nine laps but dropped back to fifth on the first of two restarts.
It was a very competitive but tough day for 3-Dimensional Services. Rafa Matos entered the event with the points lead but started 18th in the No. 88 Ford Mustang. He worked all the way up to second and was challenging for the lead when he began falling back, eventually finishing seventh. Teammate Adam Andretti took up the chase in the team’s No. 86 Mustang, passing Skeen for the lead on lap 32. However, he began smoking and pitted on the following lap, out of the race.
