Mike Cope Racing Looking for “W” at Detroit Doubleheader

Coming off a win at Lime Rock, MCR takes to the streets of Detroit to make it 2 (or 3) in a row
Clearwater, FL (May 30, 2019)— Mike Cope Racing is sitting on top on the world after taking the win at Lime Rock Park with Thomas Merrill piloted the #26 Mike Cope Race Cars house car backed by Big Diehl Racing and Skip Barber Racing School. Merrill lead the way from flag to flag, putting on a show for the huge crowd of fans in attendance. This weekend, The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli, TA2 powered by AEM class, heads to Downtown Detroit for Rounds 5 & 6. Will MCR be able to put another Cope Chassis’ on the top of the podium? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
TA2 Champion, Tony Buffomante, climbs back into the seat of his #34 Mike Cope Racing Ford Mustang for this weekend’s double header. Last year, Tony was able to capture P1 in Race 1, but couldn’t secure the victory on Day 2. This year, Buffomante is looking to take the top honors 2 days in a row and we all know that he is more than capable.
Keith Prociuk in the #9 HP Tuners Chevrolet Camaro is strapping back into his ride to tame the streets of Detroit. Prociuk elected to start from the rear at Lime Rock, as he felt like taking on fresh rubber would play to his advantage and was able to climb to a Top 10 finishing spot. We look to carry that momentum with us this weekend- get the car turning- and put Keith in the top 5.
Rookie of the Year contender, Lawless Alan, in the #52 AutoParkit Ford Mustang is learning the ropes of road course racing. An early spin at Lime Rock had him playing catch up. A top 10 finish was in his grasp, but the late caution didn’t work in his favor and the #52 came home in P11. Looking towards Detroit, Alan looks to have the skills that it takes to master the street course. There is great potential in this young driver with much success in his near future.
Matt Parent in the #14 Venture Construction Ford Mustang took a break from Lime Rock to attend a monumental moment for his son as his graduated from high school but is back to pilot the #14 this weekend at Detroit. Laguna Seca proved to be a great weekend for Matt with a solid top 10 and we look to continue that on the streets of downtown Detroit this doubleheader weekend.
