Lagasse Races to Podium Finish at Road America

TEAM NEWS August 28, 2018 St. Augustine, FL -- Trans Am Muscle Car Challenge competitors had the fans on their feet Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the famed Road America Road Course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Exciting wheel-to-wheel, fender rubbing, talented driving continues to be the theme, and once again provided plenty of fan pleasing action. For the third straight race, Scott Lagasse Jr., and his M1 Fastrack Chassis/ American Cancer Society/ Fight CRC/ Jack Wilson Chevrolet Camaro would finish on the podium.

Lagasse and his M1 Fastrack team qualified 5th with the top-10 cars all close in times. Rain passed through the Elkhart Lake area early in the morning providing a wet slippery surface to get the action going quickly. Starting from the 5th spot on the inside line, Scott Jr., and all of the drivers carefully felt their way around the track, sliding and searching for traction.

The 101-mile race would see its first caution after just a couple of laps with a car sliding off into the wet grass. Scott Jr. found himself in a battle for 4th place early in the race, while the leaders were able to pull away on the wet track. As the surface dried, Scott Jr. would begin closing the gap to the leaders and make a challenge for third place until a full course caution bunched up the field. The race would restart with only two laps remaining for an all out, stand on the gas, get everything you can dash to the finish. As the green flag flew to go racing, the eventual winner, Ty Majeski followed by Scott Jr,. both made great restarts with Ty sliding into first, and Scott Jr., just behind him, into 3rd. Scott Jr. would then hold off challenges from competitors Rafa Matos and Brandon Jones while chasing the two leaders in the closing laps for his third podium finish in a row.

"Road America in a Trans Am car is about as much fun as you can have. I really like road course racing, and the challenge of finding speed on the track. Our M-1 car was really good but we didn't have anything for the front two Mustangs. We continue to improve our program every race, and we are seeing the results. Beyond the racing, it's exciting for me to be able to continue to spread the word about our Screen Your Machine program and motivate people to take cancer screening seriously. Thank you to everyone at Trans Am for a great series, and a special thanks to all of our partners that support this M-1 Fastrack race team, M-1 Fabrication, Jack Wilson Chevy, American Cancer Society and Fight CRC," said Scott Lagasse Jr.

Scott Jr., SLR and Fields Racing who make up the M1 Fastrack team will be back in action in two weeks at Watkins Glen looking for their first win!
