Keeping it Clean on the Streets of Nashville

New York – This weekend’s Music City Grand Prix in Nashville, Tenn. partnered with IndyCar, the Trans Am presented by Pirelli is expecting more than 40 entries — making it the largest Trans Am field in its more than 50-year history. F.A.S.T. Auto Racing team members Adrian Wlostowski and Doug Winston understand they must keep it clean on the tight confines of the new street circuit.
Grand Prix officials said the street course was designed specifically to challenge drivers and excite fans. The route takes drivers past Nissan Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans) and across the Korean War Veterans bridge not once, but twice.
Team Owner Wlostowski and driver of the No. 3 Hawk Performance, Howe Racing Enterprises, Camaro said, “Tony Parella and John Claggett have done a great job putting this together with our fellow TA2 competitor and Music City Grand Prix promoter Scott Borchetta. The crowd will be huge, and we’ve just learned the race will be a same-day telecast on CBS Sports at 8pm EST — and that’s big for everyone in Trans Am, TA2 and our sponsors.
“Racing on a brand new and narrow street course with a large field will make passing difficult and will make qualifying exceptionally important,” Wlostowski added. “With a new track, we’ll all be trying to get laps in so the pit lane will be very busy as we hustle to make changes and get back out. During the early sessions we should see a big difference in speed, and keeping the car off the wall will be challenging and hugely important. Everyone will be hustling, and the teams will be working hard to find the best setup for qualifying.
“The race will be very challenging and exciting to drive. The track looks to be very fast in some areas and very tight in others. Even though this will be my first time racing on a street, I know they are hugely challenging – you must be aggressive, but if you a mistake it will put you in the barriers and that could end my weekend. Having a good car at the end will be critical. It will be tough on brakes, the car, the team, and me. I’m so glad we have Hawk Performance behind us and their brake pads on the car. I’m getting excited just talking about it!”
The Music City Grand Prix will see F.A.S.T. Auto Racing field a second car with Doug Winston behind the wheel of the No. 98 D&M Electrical Contracting, Howe Racing Enterprises, Camaro.
"The whole team is really excited about being part of the inaugural Music City Grand Prix,” Winston said. “This will be my first street race and it’s going to be interesting to see how everyone, including myself, acclimates to a track we’ve never raced on or have setup history to work from.

The Trans Am presented by Pirelli’s TA2 category is more than deserving to be featured at this caliber of an event. In my opinion, we have the baddest cars on the planet and I know the fans will love seeing close to 40 American muscle cars duke it out on the streets of Nashville — this is going to be fun, and I can’t wait!”
