Hard Fought Effort for Burtin Racing at Road Atlanta

TEAM RELEASE - Atlanta, GA – May 10, 2015 – The Trans Am Round 3 of the season championship started off with official practice at Road Atlanta on Friday and the “Fast Five” qualifying session later in the afternoon under the hot Georgia sunshine. Fifth overall in the standings going into the weekend, the No. 7 FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R made headway throughout the day and Claudio Burtin secured his best qualifcation result of the year by securing the 10th spot on the grid for the FOAMETIX 100 race on Saturday.

The main event was one for the record books as Trans Am featured a huge field, with 74 cars taking the green flag in the FOAMETIX 100 & Muscle Car Challenge. Burtin had an excellent start for the 65-minute timed race and quickly moved up to two positions to eighth with his sights set on chasing down the leaders.

With 16-laps remaining in the race, Burtin settled into race pace and was holding a great position until a progressive suspension failure forced the driver to bring the car into the pit lane and unable to complete the race. The final outcome was a 31st place finish and the team leaves Round 3 currently 10th in the Trans Am Championship standings. This is Burtin’s first DNF in the series since debuting the No. 7 FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R back at Daytona International Speedway last year.

“We are at our home track and sponsoring the race so it is disappointing that we did not have a better finish here at Road Atlanta this weekend,” commented Claudio Burtin after the race. “We are still in it for the long-haul this season with the championship and will look ahead to Lime Rock next.”

Watch the televised FOAMETIX Trans Am 100 & Muscle Car Challenge from Road Atlanta on Saturday, May 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET and Saturday, May 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports.
