2017, 2015 TA2 Class Champion Throws in for Double-Header Weekend
MILFORD, Mich. [May 4, 2018] – For many Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli competitors The 3-Dimensional Services Motor City races at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear stand as Trans Am’s super bowl, the grandest stage of the 2018 season. It is also a show Gar Robinson, the 2015 and 2017 TA2 champ, doesn’t want to be watching from the sidelines.
Robinson and the Robinson Racing Team will return to TA2 class competition in a one-off capacity at Belle Isle, with the intent of defending their 2017 Detroit victory in the Team’s home state of Michigan.
“Detroit is always an amazing weekend, and the TA2 racing there is incredible,” said Robinson. “I just couldn’t sit this one out. My crew is the Detroit Mafia, it's our home and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the No. 74 - Palate fo Milford - 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro and mixing up with the rest of the field. We’ll refresh some old rivalries and see what we can do; after all, we can’t let Rafa (Matos) win them all now can we?”
From late 2014 to the conclusion of the 2017 season, Robinson accumulated 10 victories, 23 podium finishes and five poles across 40 starts— those accolades include Robinson’s 2017 Detroit pole and ensuing win.
Trans Am’s double-points weekend at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will feature two races: The 3-Dimensional Services Motor City Muscle Car Challenge on Saturday, June 2, and The 3-Dimensional Services Motor City Dash on Sunday, June 3.
