FOAMETIX Burtin Racing Back in the Top Ten in New Jersey
June 16, 2015

Millville, NJ – June 15, 2015 – The Trans Am Weekend of Thunder at New Jersey Motorsports Park took place under the hot and humid northeast sun, with the MPT Fuel System Cleanse 100 feature event on Sunday. It was Round 5 of Trans Am action in a record breaking season.
Claudio Burtin and his FOAMETIX team found the car to be a little tight after the first practice sessions of the weekend. However, using a wider Hoosier tire on the rear of the No. 7 FOAMETIX Corvette improved performance, and the adjustments to the setup were quickly dialed in for the driver to get to work.
Burtin qualified the car 9th on the grid for the race start and a return to the top ten grid puts up for a good starting position. The team was confident in their race strategy and eager to see Burtin start chasing down the leaders once the race went green. Sure enough, at the halfway point of the race Burtin’s lap times were the same as the Trans Am class leaders and he was battling through to the front.
A full course caution came out for an incident in Turn 1 when a TA3 car spun and was disabled. Burtin had executed a brilliant restart and was heading into the first turn when contact from the TA3 class Dodge Viper unluckily cut a tire on the No. 7 FOAMETIX Corvette. Burtin recovered to the pit lane for an impressively quick stop for a new race tire and was able to complete the race with a very creditable 9th place result.
“I am proud of the teamwork and efforts by the crew here this weekend,” stated Claudio Burtin, team principal and driver. “We are improving with the car and I like the direction we are heading. The team is focused on developing more power to run upfront with the leaders."
The FOAMETIX Burtin Racing team has gained strides all season at each event along the way. Development on horsepower and setups have brought the team up to a competitive level and confidence is building.
The next event for the Trans Am Series will make its way to Brainerd International Raceway for Round 6 coming up on July 5. Visit the Trans Am website for the full event schedule and ticket information, click here.
