Drissi Motorsports’ Tomy Drissi Finishes Third in 2024 Trans Am Points

Drissi, Don Yount end the season strong with dual podiums in season finale at COTA

Drissi Motorsports and Tomy Drissi wrapped up the 2024 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli with third in the TA class standings with another impressive result at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday. Drissi’s second place in the finale was the fourth podium in a row for the #8 Lucas Oil/MavTV/Franklin Road/Mission Foods Chevrolet Camaro, while Don Yount finished third to join Drissi on the box with his first-ever Trans Am podium.

After acquiring the assets of Showtime Motorsports in the offseason, former TA champion Drissi and the #8 team gelled and consistently built momentum as the season went on. Drissi’s first podium finish of the season came at NOLA Motorsports Park in April, and he never finished outside of the top five after that race while accruing seven podiums and a pole at Lime Rock Park. The team really found its groove in the final third of the season, including back-to-back runner-up results to end the season at VIRginia International Raceway and COTA.

Drivers Keith Grant and Yount complemented Drissi with partial schedules for much of the season, and each added strong results of their own. Grant managed sixth in TA points on a limited schedule, earning three top-five finishes and a best finish of third at Road Atlanta in the spring. Yount, meanwhile, made his TA debut with a fourth place finish at Road America in the summer before taking third at COTA in the season finale. When all was said and done, Drissi Motorsports was the only team in TA not to suffer a DNF during the 2024 season.

“I can’t thank the Drissi Motorsports crew, my teammates, all of our partners, and the fans enough for their support this season,” said Drissi. “We finished the year strong with four straight podiums, and with both Keith and Don able to take podiums of their own this season, we’ve proven our strength as a team. After bringing all the resources over from Showtime Motorsports before the season, we’re looking forward to taking that momentum into 2025 and going for another title! I’d like to thank all the fans who turned out this year, Lucas Oil, Mav TV, Franklin Road, and Mission Foods Chevrolet Camaro for being a part of all of this.”

”I had a great result with a great battle with my teammate,” said Yount. “Drissi Motorsports put together a stellar second car for me for the finale of the Trans Am series. A mediocre qualifying put us in the back of the pack but some consistent laps and some trouble with the leaders paid off for a podium in the big car class. Thanks to Tomy Drissi, Ken Thwaits for the great spotting, and the team for a car that was stable and fast.”

The 2025 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli kicks off on February 20-23 with its traditional season opener at Sebring International Raceway. The schedule includes 12 rounds, including Trans Am’s debut at Barber Motorsports Park on October 17-19. Drissi Motorsports’ plans for the 2025 Trans Am season will be announced in due course.
