CB Motorsports and Caleb Bacon Earn First Trans Am Series Top-Five Result

Team overcomes qualifying woes to drive forward yet again

April 15, 2024 – With their season-best result at Road Atlanta just a few weeks ago, it was a trip to NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana for round three of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli this past weekend. Bringing two drivers in Caleb Bacon and Jared Odrick, the team overcame qualifying woes to drive forward again and assert themselves as competitors once the wheel-to-wheel action commenced.

After completing a pair of test sessions on Friday and a single practice session on Saturday morning, it was time for qualifying, which has been the Achilles heel for the team, later that afternoon. With 20 drivers on the entry list, Bacon was only able to muster the 14th quickest lap time while Pro / Am competitor Jared Odrick was forced to start on the inside of row ten after a 19th place effort.

Shifting their focus to the race, it was another drive forward for both drivers. Caleb Bacon made moves early on as he jumped forward five positions in the first ten laps of the 37-lap affair to run ninth while Odrick did the same rocketing forward from 19th to 14th in the running order. From there, Bacon continued his march forward, much like he did during round two at Road Atlanta, climbing his way forward and running sixth when the white flag flew. Taking one more position on the final circuit due to another driver’s misfortune, Bacon crossed the line fifth, a career-best result for CB Motorsports. Behind Bacon, Odrick had made another move forward to run 13th before a late race spin relegated him to 17th in the final classification, but on the third step of the podium in the Pro / Am class.

“I know we can fight for race wins, we just need to improve our qualifying effort,” explained Bacon. “With the competition level so high, it is hard to be that far back early on and be able to be on the podium. We are getting closer, but a better starting position will yield benefits. Hats off to the CB Motorsports program for all their efforts in another hard-fought weekend.”

“A podium result was one of the goals this season, and we accomplished that on race three,” explained former NFL standout Jared Odrick. “We are getting better and better every race weekend, and the speed is coming. Thanks again to CB Motorsports for all their hard work.”

“We are getting there,” added Chad Bacon, Owner of CB Motorsports. “We are just a small family-run operation and running with the big boys. Podiums and wins are in our future, I can feel it.”

CB Motorsports will have one month off before a trip to the WorldWide Technology Raceway in St. Louis over the May 10-11 weekend. Stay tuned to the CB Motorsports social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from all event weekends and throughout 2024.
