Burtin and GoShare Ready for Detroit Double-Header

Detroit, MI – June 1, 2016 – The Trans Am series is heading to the Motor City where they will compete on the streets of Detroit on one of the highest stages of North American racing. This will be a historic race with it being the return of the Trans Am series to the circuit for the first time in 15 years. It’ll be a long and exciting weekend for the team as the event is scheduled to feature a high adrenalin double-header, racing June 4th and 5th on the 2.3 mile circuit. The Verizon IndyCar Series will be side-by-side with the Trans Am Series as they will be racing their one and only double-header of the season as well.

Team Burtin has entered the No. 7 GoShare Corvette C5 to debut this weekend in Detroit. The car has a rich history, winning two prior championships with notable driver Doug Peterson. The Corvette C7.R will be back in action at the following Trans Am event at New Jersey Motorsports Park set on the calendar for June 12.

The team is looking to have a strong showing for the return to this challenging racing facility. Momentum is on high course for the team after scoring a solid top five finish at Watkins Glen, a podium finish at Sebring and Burtin is sitting 4th in the Trans Am Series Championship.

“It was 23 years ago that I started my second Trans Am start at the Detroit Grand Prix,” said Claudio Burtin, team owner and driver. “That was 1993 and I remember it being the hardest fought 18th place finish of my life! My last appearance in Detroit was in a Panoz Esparante in 2001 and a lot has changed since then. This should be an exciting weekend for the GoShare Corvette and I am looking forward to hitting the course with our Corvette C5.”

Television coverage from Detroit will air on the CBS Sports Network on Saturday, July 2 at 12pm ET.

The Chevrolet Corvette will sport the GoShare theme at Belle Isle for the Trans Am Series double-header races.
