Burtin Racing Puts Up Solid Effort at Lime Rock
June 1, 2015

Lakeville, CT - June 1, 2015 – The Trans Am Series Championship rolled into Lime Rock Park this past weekend for Round 4 of the 2015 sports car racing action. The spectator attendance was in full swing with local racing enthusiasts coming out in droves to see their favorite cars for Saturday’s feature, The Next Dimension 100.
The FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R has been faced with a steep learning curve of development challenges throughout the season, but despite the hurdles that come with a young team and a new car, Burtin Racing entered the Trans Am weekend with a prime spot sitting in the Top 10 of the point standings out of over seventy entrants.
“It has been over ten years since I’ve been to Lime Rock and I knew it was going to be difficult to get the car ready with no practice time here,” stated driver and team principal Claudio Burtin. “I was over aggressive in qualifications – locked up coming in to the braking zone going into Turn 1 and flat spotted the tires. We made the call to switch tires and start from the back for the race.”
Burtin commented after the race, “We had a good start and picked up positions by avoiding others and making some smart moves as the race got underway. It was to our dismay that the clutch started slipping and we lost it completely after 15 laps. The team will continue to develop the FOAMETIX Corvette C7.R and we put this down as learning experience.”
The event also stood as Leg 1 of the 3-Dimensional Services Triple Shot Showdown, a select, three-event segment of the 2015 Trans Am Championship that highlights some of the finest racetracks on the Trans Am circuit, including: Lime Rock Park, Road America and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Drivers who accumulate the most points throughout the three events will be awarded additional silverware for their performance in the mid-season showdown.
Watch the Trans Am Series race at Lime Rock Park on the CBS Sports Network on Saturday, June 6 at 12:00 p.m. ET and Saturday, June 13 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
