JACOB MOSLER AND 2019 NASCAR K&N CHAMPION SAM MAYER READY FOR DAYTONA, SCOTT LAGASSE JR. SIDELINED

Trans Am presented by Pirelli heads to Daytona International Speedway for the season finale of the 13-race schedule this week. The season long championship battles will conclude following the 100-mile race around the historic track on Saturday. Sam Mayer is back to hone his road racing skills and Jacob Mosler will finally get back to a track for the second time.

Unfortunately, Scott Lagasse Jr. will not be behind the wheel of the familiar No.92 M1 Chevrolet Camaro and will lose the chance to move up in the Championship Standings from his current 3rd place position. Scott Jr. has lingering effects from a horrific crash at VIR where his car flipped multiple times and was destroyed. Scott Jr. did race at COTA finishing 2nd, however since then he has developed additional symptoms which doctors, including NASCAR, state he should not race in Daytona this weekend.

"No doubt that I am really disappointed about my health and missing the final race of the season. I especially hate it for M1 racecars and all the guys who have worked to finish out the year strong. You never know what tomorrow brings so you deal with it as it comes and make the best of it," said Scott Jr.

"Scotty has done a terrific job all year long and it's extremely unfortunate that he is still feeling the effects of the crash at VIR. As a professional driver, it's unfortunate that he wasn't able to drive the IMSA LMP3 car last weekend at Sebring and now won't be able to compete for a top spot in the points this weekend, but we also insist that his safety and health comes first." said Team Manager, Lee Quinlan.

SLR/Fields Racing will enter two cars with Jacob Mosler in the No.17 Chevrolet Camaro, and 2019 K&N Pro Series East Champion, Sam Mayer, behind the wheel of the No. 92 Chevrolet, M1 Racecars Camaro.

Jacob Mosler

"Daytona is Jacob's and SLR's home track, and we have a lot of friends and family here to support our team and drivers. This race last year, Jacob made his first career start in Trans Am TA2. Over the past year, he has made great strides and has been impressive with such limited experience at new tracks and I'm excited to see him back in Daytona," said Scott Lagasse Sr.

"Daytona is where I made my first Trans Am start, this place is special to me. I know I have learned a lot as a driver over the past year and I am looking forward to putting it all together here. It will be a great atmosphere with all my friends and family coming for the race on Saturday."

Sam Mayer

We are excited to have Sam back with us to close out the season. Sam is a quick learner and proved he is a winner by being the youngest ever champion in the K&N Series this year. His talent is obvious when you watch how quickly he gets to speed. Everyone is excited to see him back to get some quality road race time around Daytona," said TeamSLR President, Scott Lagasse Sr.

"I'm really looking forward to racing in Daytona this coming weekend. This will be my first race there and I'm excited for the opportunity. Road racing is a lot of fun and I enjoy driving the Trans Am TA2 Chevy Camaro. It's been a long time since Road Atlanta earlier this year and I look forward to learning another new track. I know Scott Jr. & Scott Sr. have a lot of experience with these cars and at coaching, so we should do well," said Team Chevy's Driver's Edge development driver, Sam Mayer.

Jacob is a student of the sport, a quick learner who after driving a few faster cars realized the value of the Spec racer Ford class and spent time learning the craft there. In 2019, Jacob made the jump to Trans Am TA-2, and is currently competing full-time in Trans Am. You can follow Jacob on Instagram: @jacobmosler
