3Dimensional.com Driver’s Spotlight: Jason Berkeley

As the Trans Am Series continues to grow, the TA3 class has seen a significant portion of that growth and, within that, the TA3 International Group in particular.

Now, fresh off a win at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Jason Berkeley, in the No. 67 BMG Management Chevrolet Corvette, is poised to carry that success into Round 6 of the 2014 Trans Am Championship at Road America, in this, his rookie year.

“I am excited by the challenge of stepping into the Trans Am series,” said Berkeley. “The BMG Management Berkeley Motorsports team and I have really tried to step-up our game‎ and be competitive from our first race onward. The team's victory in the Racingjunk.com 100 is validation of those efforts. We hope to continue our performance improvements race by race and honor the tradition of excellence that the Trans Am series represents.”

The year started somewhat difficultly for Berkeley, with a disappointing finish at Homestead-Miami in Round Two, the result of a forced pit stop after being hit from behind, despite putting in consistently fast times throughout the weekend. The story remained the same at Road Atlanta as Berkeley was forced to overcome two pit stops on his way to a fourth place finish, showing off the No. 67’s speed.

Finally, it all come to fruition for Berkeley at New Jersey Motorsports Park, where he started on pole and led most of the race, avoiding the pit stops that had hampered the Berkeley Motorsports Team earlier in the year, as the No. 67 outlasted a rally from current TA3 International points leader Russ Snow for a crucial victory at the RacingJunk.com 100.

Now, Berkeley and the entire team will look to convert that success as into momentum going forward as they move forward to Road America—ready for the next challenge, and potentially their second Trans Am win.
