2023 Track to the Title: JC Meynet, Western Championship GT Champion
December 13, 2023

In his very first year of competition in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s Western Championship, JC Meynet in the No. 28 Killer Shrimp Racing Chevrolet Corvette was explosive right out of the gate, winning the GT title in the most competitive season the class has ever seen.
Meynet started off 2023 with a bang, earning three straight victories from the pole at Thunderhill Raceway Park, Sonoma Raceway and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
“First of all, I just want to say thanks to my wife and my crew, they’re awesome,” said Meynet after his three-race win streak. “Thanks to my teammate, Kevin [Michaels]; we work on these cars at my house all the time, it’s just a garage project, but they’re really good. I just love racing. Trans Am is a great series; everyone is friendly, professional, and there’s good competition. What can I say? I’ve had a good run: three pole positions, three first places. So far, so good.”
The competition heated up mid-season as the class grew, but Meynet continued to post strong results through the summer stretch. Following a win in the penultimate race of the season at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, Meynet came into the season finale with just a 37-point advantage over second-place David Hampton (No. 14 AR Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 CS), making the final race of the year an exciting event. Meynet was able to seal the deal with a win in the final event at Circuit of The Americas capturing his first Trans Am title. In total, Meynet tallied five victories and finished on the podium seven times, missing the steps just once in eight events.
“[COTA] was pretty awesome; I did the TA2 race earlier in the day for the first time ever, so I was pretty beat up,” Meynet said with a laugh. “I might look like the picture of fitness, but I'm not maybe quite as good as some of these teenage boys out there. But I had a blast and learned a lot. GT was awesome. These guys have been great to race with, real fair, real even. It’s just a lot of fun. I want to say thanks to my crew, my family, my mom, my sister, my nephew, my wife, Carrie. I appreciate Trans Am doing a great job. Thank you to all the fans.”
