The name Cope was long been associated with the world of oval track stock car racing, most notably in NASCAR. However, after successfully fielding cars part time in both GTA and TA2 classes over the past few years, Mike Cope Racing Enterprises (MCRE) is dedicating 2014 race season and beyond to the Trans Am Series.
In December 2013 after the approval from Trans Am, MCRE became an authorized chassis builder for the series. Their facility is centrally located in Clearwater, Florida just 5 miles west of Tampa. Their team consists of highly trained and experienced crew members. Mike brings to the table over 30 years of racing experience. He has competed professionally and has won 2 championships with NASCAR’s Slim Jim All Pro Challenge Series in 1994 and 1996. With over 120 wins throughout his career, he holds record breaking statistics in career wins and pole awards. He has driven in the NASCAR’s Busch series as well as NASCAR’s Truck series. Mike has mentored and built cars for drivers such as his son, Travis Cope, known as one of Florida’s Best short track drivers, Jay Middleton - ASA Southeast 2008 champion, Jay Marshall - GTA winner and Cameron Lawrence – 2013 TA2 Champion.
