Chassis builder looks to accelerate class participation for start of 2017 Trans Am season
MIAMI, Fla. [February 13, 2017] – Howe Racing Enterprises has announced a new contingency program for the Trans Am Series’, presented by Pirelli, TA2 class rewarding competitors within the class that choose the participate during the early stages of Trans Am’s 51st year.
The Howe Fast Forward award was established to incentivize TA2 competitors to compete in the early rounds of the 2017 Trans Am Championship. In full, the program will distribute $10,000 to the first 100 TA2 entries sporting a Howe-built chassis and Howe decal.
“Chas (Howe) and Howe Racing Enterprises have been long-time supporters of Trans Am,” said John Clagett, President of the Trans Am Race Company. “We’re pleased to once more partner with Howe to produce a contingency program that directly impacts our competitors and, in this case, helps get the 2017 TA2 Championship off to a fantastic start.”
"The Fast Forward name is a variation of the concept of, paying- it-forward by offsetting some of the race entry expense of the first 100 Howe entries,” explained Chas Howe. “This is just one part of a larger Howe TA2 budget that is intended to encourage participation. We also provide access to a large inventory of spare parts and technical assistance at the track. These are things that most independent teams do not have. Rather than putting our whole budget into a few large awards, our objective is the same as Trans Am; to remove obstacles to participation and help to grow the class".
In addition to the contingency program, Howe will once more post a year-end award come the season finale at Daytona International Speedway, the criteria for which will be announced.
Trans Am competitors can find the full details of the contingency program in the competitor’s lounge on gotransam.com.
