Trans Am Series releases 2016 CBS Sports Network broadcast schedule

Schedule features seven races from 50th Anniversary Season
MIAMI, FL. [April 8, 2016] – The Trans Am Race Company has unveiled an initial seven-race slate of broadcasts on the CBS Sports Network bringing select races from the Trans Am Series’ 50th Anniversary Season to a national cable audience.
The broadcast schedule will showcase both the multiclass racing of the TA, TA3, TA4 and TA5 classes as well as the independent TA2, powered by AEM, stand-alone Muscle Car Challenges with coverage from the Motor City 100 at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, Brainerd International Raceway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Road America.
“We’re excited to once more bring Trans Am fans nationwide along for the ride at some of Trans Am’s historic homes,” said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company. “From Mid-Ohio to Trans Am’s long-awaited return to Detroit, we’re ready to show off our growing Series and competitor base on some of the country’s best road courses, in this our 50th Anniversary Season.”
Returning to CBS Sports Network this season alongside the Trans Am Series will be Carolinas Production Group and long-time racing broadcaster Rick Benjamin, who will also continue his role of play-by-play commentator alongside returning color commentator Michael McDowell of NASCAR fame.
“Rick continues to bring invaluable experience and an intimate knowledge of our sport,” continued Clagett. “We’re pleased to announce his return and are confident that between Carolinas Production Group, CBS Sports Network and the intense action that is Trans Am racing we’ll be able to put together quite a show for fans of all forms of motorsport.”

The series of broadcasts on CBS Sports Network will commence with the Motor City 100, a 90-minute, two-race special, on Saturday, July 02, 2016 at 12:00 PM ET.
