Stevens-Miller Racing Season Preview

Columbus City, Ind.—Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR) will debut new sponsors, new cars, and freshly wrapped transporters at this weekend’s opening round of The Trans Am Presented by Pirelli at Sebring International Raceway. SMR will field five cars in the TA2 category with support of Berryman Products, Liqui Moly, and PREFIX.

“We’ve put together a great group of sponsors and drivers for 2019,” Team Owner Joe Stevens said.

This season SMR will field three full time drivers: Brian Swank in the No. 12 Berryman Products, Prefix Camaro; Marc Miller driving No. 40, Prefix, Dodge Challenger; and Dillon Machavern in the No. 77 Liqui Moly, Prefix Ford Mustang.  Also entered for Sebring are Alex Wright and Legendary Motor Cars Peter Klutt driving SMR-prepared Prefix-powered Dodge Challengers.

Stevens added, “With the help of our corporate partners Prefix, Berryman Products, and Liqui Moly, we’ve been able to upgrade the look of our team. Our trailers and our three full-time cars are wrapped with new graphics. Our marketing goal for 2019 is to professionally represent our partners and provide a professional venue to activate and engage their clients. Our Berryman rig with its 20-foot-tall Chemtooler is beyond anything ever seen in the paddock and will be the base for our corporate hospitality center. The Liqui Moly rig will be used to pit our cars and provides instant brand awareness while graphically representing their products.

“‘Activate and Engage’ is the SMR marketing motto for 2019. The SMR marketing team built great momentum over the winter and we’ll have more than 50 guests attending Sebring.”

Guests include executives from Prefix, Piper Aircraft, Genovation Cars, and Enginuity Power Systems. Liqui Moly will have its Regional Manager Jose Rosa and 20 repair shop owners on hand. Berryman’s marketing manager, Beau Blankenship, will be at all of the 2019 races stoking fans with Berryman freebies. SMR will engage every level of the automotive industry: manufacturer, dealer, installer, and end user from day one of the 2019 season.

“We are 100 percent behind Trans Am,” Stevens continued. “Trans Am is the perfect marketing partner for companies that want to put some American muscle behind their brand. Liqui Moly is recognized by European car owners, but no so much on the domestic side. Liqui Moly has a whole line of certified products for domestic cars as well as heavy-duty applications and they’ve chosen Trans Am to drive that home.

“Last season Berryman celebrated 100 years of American-made products. Our relationship began with a pallet of product and Beau attending a race. That led to his family’s company branding a car, buying the title rights to the Indianapolis race, and finishing off the season with the Berryman brand on our cars. Things went so well, our 2019 partnership was announced at the SEMA Show with two 2018 races to run.”

Another new element for 2019 is the Prefix Technical Support Trailer. Prefix will now have a trackside trailer and spares to service its customers. Prefix’s Performance Engines Manager Rick Talbot and Prefix sales and customer service representative Dale Matthews will be on hand to work with the teams and support their TA2 engine program.

“Prefix is committed to the Trans Am at every level, from CEO, president, sales, marketing and their performance engines staff,” Stevens said. “We’ve worked closely with Prefix and Howe Racing getting the cars ready. With the help of industry leaders Alcon, Pagid, Wix, and Sabelt, we’ve been able to upgrade our cars. With the addition of new crew members and marketing staff we are in a great place to kick off our 2019 season.”

Stevens said SMR is ready to contend for the championship.

“With Marc Miller and Dillon Machavern in our cars for the entire season we have a great chance to win it all. In 2018, running a limited schedule, both stood on the podium and Marc won the opening round. This season, SMR is committed to push to the front from the drop of Sebring’s first green to the final checker at Daytona.”
