June 29, 2017
TEAM RELEASE - BRAINERD, Minn. [June 29, 2017] –Hawk Performance Sponsored Driver, and the current SVRA Group 6 overall points leader after the Brickyard event at Indy, Shannon Ivey, will pilot the #12 Hawk Performance Dodge Challenger for the Ryan Companies Muscle Car Challenge this Sunday, July 2nd.
The road race event is one of six races covered by the CBS Sports Network and partners with the PleasureLand RV Show N' Go Drag Races, bringing thousands of fans, racers, and enthusiasts alike from all over the Midwest to the Brainerd International Raceway.
"For years this event has been one of the most attended on our calendar and sits right in Shannon's back yard. And although its his first time in a Trans Am TA2 car its certainly not his first time at Brainerd International Raceway" says Joe Stevens, team owner of Stevens-Miller Racing who fields the #12 car. "Having the expertise of Hawk Performance engineered brake components along with recently redesigned braking hardware from Speedlogix gives Shannon an advantage he can rely on lap after lap."
SVRA ProAm teammate and former CART and Indy Car driver, Johnny Unser, had this to say about Shannon's move from vintage racing to the ultra competitive TA2 class.
“Shannon’s very smooth and very good, every year I’ve been impressed with his car control, said Unser. "I don’t think Shannon will have any problem at all—I’d be surprised if he didn’t get a good result. He knows the track so well, and he’s fairly familiar with that platform. It’ll take some getting up to speed, of course, but I think he’ll be up there in the end.”
Make sure to check out all the race action on CBSSN July 22nd at Noon E.T. and live timing and scoring at the GoTransAm.com or Race Monitor.
