Mike Cope Racing Ready for Demanding 2nd Half of TA2 Season
August 7, 2019
Clearwater, FL (August 7, 2019)— The Mike Cope Racing team has “road dog” to add to the list of plentiful skill sets associated with this sport known as auto racing. The team set off at the end of July to kick start the second half of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli TA2 season with it’s first stop at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The season break was anything but that for the entire MCR team as they worked tirelessly to complete new builds and prepare for the multi car events ahead. The second half of the TA2 season brings with it veteran road course drivers, up and coming NASCAR stars, a NASCAR Monster Energy Cup winner, past TA2 champions and our ever loyal MCR Arrive and Drive talent.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, one of the most iconic speedways in all of auto racing, set the tone for what proves to be a successful, fun second half of the season. MCR kicked off the summer stretch with 3 cars under the tent—TA2 champion, Tony Buffomante, young gun and rising talent, Lawless Alan, and our road course veteran, Keith Prociuk.
Qualifying and Finishing Positions at The Brickyard were:
Tony Buffomante- Qualified P5, Finished P3
Lawless Alan- Qualified P7, Finished P4
Keith Prociuk- Qualified P10, Finished P13 (running P5, but late race spin resulted in finished position)
Following Indy, the team packed up and headed straight for Lexington, OH to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. This weekend Trans Am partners up with the NASCAR Xfinity series bringing with it a packed entry list of rising stars and road course veterans alike.
Under the Mike Cope Racing tent this weekend you’ll find the TA2 Rookie of the Year point leader- Lawless Alan and dedicated MCR Arrive and Drive veteran- Keith Prociuk. After missing out on Indianapolis, Matt Parent is also back with us this weekend to power his #14.
Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Ty Gibbs and Riley Herbst will be performing double duty as they jump in the seats of the Mike Cope Racing house cars for additional track time before making their way into their Xfinity cars.
A big WELCOME BACK is due to none other than NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series winner, Justin Haley, as he gets straps into the #99 Mike Cope Racing House car for his first TA2 start of the season.
Follow along all weekend, August 8-10 as the Mike Cope Racing and the Trans Am TA2 series takeover the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
