M1 Racecars Team Drivers Lagasse Jr. & Mosler Deliver in Texas
October 28, 2019
The SLR/Fields Racing team with M1 Racecars competed in Austin, Texas over the weekend at the Circuit of the Americas. COTA is one of the toughest tracks in the country, with twenty different turns and less grip than most tracks. The crew and drivers are challenged equally as the set up on the race car is difficult to optimize. Overall it was a productive weekend for the M1 Racecars team, but we raced with heavy hearts as team member Ryan Wright, lost his Dad to cancer on Thursday.
Mosler enters Turn 1 at COTA
"Scotty and Jacob both showed a lot of determination and discipline. Scotty was very focused on making a statement after having his new M1 racecar aimlessly destroyed at VIR just 2 weeks ago. Jacob had never seen the place, so he had a huge mountain to climb for a rookie. The two drivers work really well together and make great teammates sharing info. In hindsight, we made one major mistake at this event and that was running two different set ups for the race. We gambled on Scotty's car and it worked but missed on Jacob's setup. We learned some valuable lessons, and Jacob did a great job with what he had even though it wasn't pretty," said Lagasse Sr.
Even though scotty didn't set out to race for the championship, and has had some tough luck along the way, he is currently 3rd in the championship points. He is only 6 points out of 2nd going into the final race in Daytona.
The next race for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will be a home race for both Lagasse Jr. and Mosler, as we head to Daytona International Speedway in November for the season finale.
"Coming to COTA I knew my learning curve would be steeper than usual. It took me a few practice sessions to learn the track, and Scott Sr. and Scott Jr. were very helpful throughout the process. We kept the M1 Racecars Camaro in one piece, and we got a Top-10 finish, so not a bad weekend. I'm looking forward to going to Daytona where I've been around the track before. It's also the track where I had my first Trans Am race last year. I have learned a ton since then, so I'm excited to see how much better I do." Jacob Mosler

"COTA went a lot better this year than last year. I cannot thank M1 Racecars enough for their support. Lee, Chris and all of the guys are really starting to gel and their hard work throughout the weekend is making our Camaro faster. I felt as the weekend went on, my knowledge of the track kept getting better, and my dad helped with that a lot. Overall, I wish we could have gotten to the top step of the podium but finishing 2nd after what we went through at VIR shows the dedication and determination of this race team. Looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Daytona next month." Scott Lagasse Jr.
