GoShare Corvette Race Report from Virginia International Raceway

Alton, VR – September 27, 2016 – The Trans Am Series commenced Round 8 of the 2016 championship this weekend at Virginia International Raceway. The event drew an abundant crowd as the raceway guaranteed an adrenalin packed weekend of muscle car and historic sports car racing.

Burtin Racing and the No. 7 GoShare Corvette C7.R have been battling mechanical setbacks in the second part of this season. After a promising start to the year with a podium finish in Sebring, progress to the development of the racecar has been hard fought for the resilient crew. The team qualified tenth on the grid for Saturday’s Trans Am 100, which featured a 101-mile race lasting for 70 minutes.

In the early laps of the race, GoShare Corvette driver Claudio Burtin settled in with a steady race pace and advanced up two positions. The track layout at VIR provides high speeds and various sweeping and technical turns. Burtin was on point to make another pass as the GoShare Corvette was pulling up on the No. 82 car of Joe Freda. What was heating up to be a great battle and a possible top-five run was shortly out of grasp for Burtin Racing as the drivetrain failed and the GoShare Corvette was unable to finish the race.
“Virginia is a tough track and very technical,” said Claudio Burtin, Burtin Racing owner and driver. “We missed the setup a bit this race and continue to uncover mechanical issues that have plagued us for some time now. The team keeps working hard on the car and we have come a long way from where they first started with our C7.R. We look to improve our performance at Homestead.”

You can catch the next round of the Trans Am Series in action on October 9 at the Miami-Homestead Speedway.
