FONTANA, Calif.  [April 28, 2017] –  Tomy Drissi led the way for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli competitors in practice today at Auto Club Speedway as the series officially began the weekend and its first-ever appearance on the 2.8-mile Auto Club sports car course, for Round 2 of the 2017 Trans Am West Coast Championship.

Drissi, a life-long resident of Los Angeles, showcased his hometown knowledge from behind the wheel of the No. 8 Arthritis Foundation Chevrolet Corvette, turning a 1:34.374-lap to lead all participants in the practice session.   The performance also continues Drissi’s dominant string of performances on the West Coast, fresh off a victory at Willow Springs—an event at which he led every session.

Trans Am veteran Gregg Pickett, in the No. 66 Pickett Racing Ford Mustang, turned the second fastest lap of the session, and TA class, a 1:36.114; while Richard Wall, in the No. 7 Welded Fixtures Chevrolet Corvette, was third quick with a time of 1:39.442—a full five seconds off Drissi’s pace-setting time.

In TA2, Justin Napoleon, in the No. 90 Napoleon Motorsports/ Turnkey Industries Chevrolet Camaro, turned the fast lap for the class, a 1:43.664,just edging out Willow Springs victor Brad McAllister, in the No. 24 PortlandImplantDentistry.com Ford Mustang, who turned a 1:43.698.
