Andy Porterfield Dies at Age 80

 It is with great sadness Trans Am acknowledges the passing of Andy Porterfield. A 55-year member of the Sports Car Club of America, Andy passed away Tuesday evening at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Judy, son Tracy, daughter Pamela and his grandchildren.

 
Andy Porterfield was a businessman and a competitor. The Porterfield Brakes company he started is still in operation today and run by the Porterfield family. As a competitor, the two-time SCCA National Champion competed in 41 Trans-Am races between 1969 and 1992, finishing third on two occasions in 1980, both in a Corvette.
