American V8 Road Racing Launches Trans Am Contingency Program for 2018

Engine and chassis program looks to grow Dodge Challenger presence in the TA class

MIAMI, Fla. [November 10, 2017] – American V8 Road Racing and the Trans Am Race Company presented by Pirelli have announced a contingency award program for the upcoming 2018 Trans Am Championship presented by Pirelli.

The program is centered around two separate contingencies, designed to reward podium finishing TA class competitors who field American V8 Road Racing chassis and engine packages while incentivizing competitors to adopt the Dodge Challenger body introduced in the 2017 season and debuted on the No.  9 Dodge Challenger of Jeff Hinkle, driver and owner of American V8 Road racing.

“We are very excited to bring the new car as well as a new chassis design to the series,” said Hinkle.  “Its been a long road and over $500K of investment to get the car and engine package ready.  This year was a testing and development year for the platform to ensure that we had a package that would be competitive and relatively bug free for fellow competitors before we released it for general consumption.  We believe in the platform and are shooting to reduce the cost of running TA, increase the performance and step up the game on the cash awards program to continue to make TA a better place to race.”

“We’re grateful to Jeff and American V8 Road Racing for their commitment to bringing the Dodge Challenger to the TA class,” said John Clagett, President of the Trans Am Race Company.  “The past year has seen the look of the TA class change tremendously, and now, thanks to Jeff and American V8, I think we can all look forward to seeing that landscape continue to change over the coming years.”

American V8 Road Racing will award cash payouts to the first, second and third place finishers in the TA class in the amounts of $1000, $500 and $250, respectively, per event.  In order for competitors to be eligible for the award their car must be an American V8 Road Racing chassis purchased or rented through American V8 featuring Dodge Challenger bodywork.

TA class podium finishers that also use an American V8 Road Racing Dodge Engine, again purchased through American V8, will be eligible for additional payouts— $500 for a first place finish, $250 for second and $125 for third.
