Archer Brothers Team Has Unfortunate Endings at Daytona Finishing 16th, 20th and 28th
November 14, 2015
Daytona, FL – The iconic Daytona International Speedway was the setting for today’s Trans Am TA2 season finale and the Archer Brothers team spirits were positive and ready to end the year on a high note. The Archer Brothers team drivers started 4th, 19th and 20th on the grid for today’s race but unfortunately, did not end up with the finishes they had hoped for. After being spun and caught up in a multi-car incident, Tommy’s day was cut short after 13 laps and finished 20th. Nate Stokey’s day was also limited after a part failure on lap 1 and finished 28th. Ron Keith, after a brief trip to pit lane mid-race finished in 16th.
Tommy started on the grid in the 4th position driving the #54 c3controls Chevrolet Camaro and knew he had a car worthy of a top 3 podium finish. Early in the race, an aggressive battle of the top 10 cars resulted in car-to-car contact and Tommy getting spun out within the first few laps. Tommy fell back to the 10th position but didn’t waste any time starting his rally back to the 5th position. The entire field was brought back together on lap 13 and once the track went back to green, a multi-car crash in the front of the field collected Tommy and ended his day. “Even though we got spun out early in the race, we had a really fast car. We were trying to stay out of trouble and the on-track incident created a funnel which I got caught up in which created a chain reaction accident,” explains Tommy. “Although we didn’t have the result we were hoping for, I have to thank all of our guests from c3controls and ShearCore for coming to the track. I’m so happy they had an incredible time and have a new found love in racing,” says Tommy.
Nate Stokey also had his time on the track cut short after bringing his car to pit lane after the first lap of the race. While Nate was only able to complete 1 lap of the 29 lap race, he was still positive about the final result. “I’m proud of the team and the effort brought by everyone this weekend. I felt good going into the race and in the end, just didn’t have the finish we had wanted,” says Nate.
The Archer Brothers team would like to congratulate Gar Robinson of Robinson Racing on his win today and for winning the 2015 Trans Am TA2 Championship. In looking ahead for 2016, the Archer Brothers team will have some time to prepare and finalize plans prior to the first race of the season in March.
