ARCHER BROTHERS TEAM MOVES TO 15TH, 26TH AND 29TH FOR CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS RACE
November 7, 2015
Austin, TX– The Archer Brothers team returned to the track today for practice and last chance qualifying in preparation for Saturday’s 30 lap race at Circuit of the Americas. Yesterday’s preliminary qualifying session lead to Tommy starting 8th, Ron Keith in 11th and Dan Knox in the 25th position. During today’s practice, Tommy remained on pace within the TA2 car field turning the 8th quickest time and Ron Keith, after suffering significant damage from Friday’s qualifying session was 22nd.
Immediately following today’s practice session, Tommy and the team made the decision to take a gamble and elect to partake in last chance qualifying. This would give Tommy the ability to move from 8th to 6th position if he had the fastest time of the session. The team took an aggressive stance knowing the car was running fast and feeling confident in the ability to gain 2 additional spots on the starting grid. Unfortunately, the #54 c3controls Chevrolet Camaro had a mechanical issue that ended his last chance qualifying run on the first lap. “We decided to roll the dice and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. As we are in our building year and not in contention for the championship, we will continue to try new things now in preparation for next year’s full series run,” says Tommy.
The final Archer Brothers team final qualifying results and starting grid for tomorrow’s race are: Ron Keith - 15th, Tommy Archer - 26th and Dan Knox - 29th.
Tomorrow’s schedules of events are as follows:
Warm Up Session – 10:30a m – 10:50am
