Paul Fix Looking For Fruitful Visit To Peach State
May 7, 2015
(Team Release) Williamsville, NY (May 6, 2015)- With the two podium finishes thus far, Paul Fix and the #4 ClassicTube/Stopflex/CarCoach Chevrolet Corvette look to this week’s Road Atlanta event to gain valuable points in pursuit of a championship. Fix currently occupies second spot in the year's end points standings with 50 points, 18 points removed from the top spot. Consistent podium finishes and points will lead him to the championship.
Fix is no stranger to the Road Atlanta road course and intends to optimize the opportunity to have a successful outing. “I have been racing at Road Atlanta since 1989, “said Fix. “I look forward to returning to this competitive track and running out front.”
While pleased with the two podium finishes in the season’s first two races, Fix knows wins and the earning points are needed to secure the championship. “Given the circumstances at Sebring and Homestead, a pair of thirds is satisfying. However, third place finishes do not win a championship. Our team has prepared the car and is ready to lead every session and take advantage of every possible point available…qualify on pole, lead the most laps, set fast race lap and win, “ offered Fix.
“The weather forecast looks great,” said Fix. “Consistent track conditions should allow for getting the best setup under the car. I know the guys at Tony Ave Racing are prepared for the weekend. We are anxious to garner that first win.”
The Trans Am Series will once again offer the TA and TA2 classes separate races. This scheduling will help minimize on track activity. “I like that the series has chosen to split out the TA2 race. With such a huge field, traffic shouldn’t be such a determining factor ,” noted Fix.
The FOAMETIX 100 at Road Atlanta will be one of the many events televised on CBS Sports Network. The team has freshened the paint on the Stopflex Corvete. Fans can enjoy all of the racing excitement from Road Atlanta on Saturday, May 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET and Saturday, May 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports.
Said Fix, “The car should look great on this televised race. I am really expecting great things for our partners who are supporting us this season.”
The racing action gets underway on Friday, with practice sessions at 9:15a.m.and 2:45p.m. ET and Fast Five qualifying at 11:15a.am ET. Saturday’s green flag will wave at 11:40a.m. for 40 laps of competition.
